5 things to look for when buying a TV:

1. Black Level - find something black in the scene and see that it is pure black not just gray.

2. Color - richness of color that is often the result of a good black

3. Detail - look for texture in clothing, on trees, fur, rocks, sand. You can see it in a knitted sweater, in the seams on clothing. Can you almost feel it?

4. Video Noise - in scene changes or fast moving action, is it followed by little boxes (artifacts) or do you see it in large areas of one color? Look for a couple of minutes at each screen to try and catch it. (Particularly important in fast moving action like football).

5. Dark to light changes - when the scene changes, do you see remnants of light? This is from a delay in response time.
